Downtown Nashville SkylineIf you feel like you’ve done and seen all there is in Morrison, Tennessee, don’t worry; there’s plenty to enjoy just a short drive away. Whether you’re looking for a way to help the kids get out some energy, or you’re all looking to learn and experience something new, Central Tennessee has you covered. Here are three of the best day trips to take with the family from Morrison.

1. Nashville

Drive about an hour and a half northwest of Morrison and you’ll land in Nashville, TN, one of the most interesting cities in the country. Whether you’re into history, music, art, food, or all of the above, there’s plenty for you to enjoy in Nashville. Visit any of the several historic places around Nashville for a view into the history of the city. Some fascinating places to visit include Marathon Village, Belcourt Theatre, Union Station, The Parthenon in Centennial Park, and the Tennessee State Capitol. Most of these spots allow families to walk through and offer guided tours.

For families that love music, there are of course many amazing destinations to check out in Music City. A must is a tour of the Grand Ole Opry. Other great musically-focused sites include the Ryman Auditorium, the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, and the Musician’s Hall of Fame and Museum. There’s so much more for families to do in Nashville that you may need to plan a few day trips to experience it all.

2. Falls Creek Falls State Park

Falls Creek Falls State Park is one of the most popular outdoor places in Tennessee. Covering almost 30,000 acres of land, this park has everything from campgrounds, to hiking trails, to its very own golf course. First, you’ll have to visit the 256-foot waterfall following one of the several hiking trails. Whether you want a great vista or to get up close to the water, there’s a trail that will get you there. Trails range in difficulty and mileage to provide something for all ages and skill levels.

Older kids will love some time at the Canopy Challenge Course which offers 2.5 hours of tree climbing, ziplining, and tons of excitement. Other park activities include rock climbing, kayaking, canoeing, or paddle boating.

3. Chattanooga

Another exciting city worth visiting for a day, Chattanooga, TN, is right on the border of Tennessee and Georgia. Whether you’re looking for indoor or outdoor fun, this city offers plenty to do. Crawl through the Raccoon Mountain Caverns, hike through Ruby Falls, or head to Lookout Mountain for a breathtaking view. The Tennessee Aquarium and Chattanooga Zoo are also must-visit attractions. Train enthusiasts young and old will love a stop by the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum. This is another city that’s hard to fully enjoy in just one day.

Get out and enjoy all that your surroundings have to offer. Your family will enjoy the experiences, and you’re sure to make some great memories.
