Morrison, TN is a charming town, but sometimes you need to get out of town and explore the great outdoors. Fortunately, there are several great parks nearby you can visit if you want to restore your connection with nature. Keep reading to discover our top three parks within driving distance of Morrison.

1. Old Stone Fort State Archaeological Park
We love going to Old Stone Fort State Archaeological Park at 732 Stone Fort Drive. This park is open daily from 8 to 4:30, and it features a stone structure that was built over a millennia ago. You can hike around the walls of Old Stone Fort or explore some of the other trails in the state park. There are miles of trails that you can hike down with intensities ranging from easy to strenuous.
2. Rock Island State Park
We also love visiting Rock Island State Park at 82 Beach Road. This 883-acre park is an ideal place to go to capture stunning waterfall pictures or host a family reunion. There are six pavilions that can be reserved, and these shelters can hold anywhere from 50 to 75 people.
If you want to go on an affordable vacation, we strongly recommend renting one of the cabins in this state park. There are 10 cabins conveniently located just half a mile from the Caney Fork River’s sandy beach, and two of them are pet-friendly. There is a lot to do in this park, including hiking, swimming, fishing, birding, and boating. You can easily fill a weekend or long weekend with activities here.
3. Burgess Falls State Park
Another ideal park to visit for spectacular vistas of waterfalls is Burgess Falls State Park at 4000 Burgess Falls Drive. You can generally visit this park from 8 to 7 daily. However, the park may close during these hours in the event of high river levels or extremely snowy conditions. Here, you can find four waterfalls that plunge dozens of feet. The final fall cascades down 136 feet.
You can reserve a large pavilion with tables and grills if you want to host a large get-together with a beautiful view of the river. For smaller get-togethers, there are several picnic tables and grills that are first-come, first-serve. Besides hiking and picnicking, you can enjoy birding. During the spring and summer, you can spot green and yellow-crowned night herons from the observation deck.
There is no shortage of outdoor activities and nature trails you can enjoy if you have a dependable vehicle, like a 2023 Ford F-150. Contact us today at Reddick Brown Ford to schedule a test drive and discover if it is the ideal truck for you.
