The Ford Mustang, America’s most iconic muscle car, returns for the 2023 model year with a host of impressive features and incredible timeless styling. There are, however, also a host of trim levels, so keep reading as we break them down. We want you to know exactly which Mustang meets your needs, so that you can hit the road with confidence, driving the perfect muscle car for you.

EcoBoost
The base trim level, EcoBoost, is powered by a 2.3L turbocharged EcoBoost 4-cylinder engine and is available as a fastback hardtop or a convertible. A 6-speed manual transmission with launch control is standard, but you can also opt for the 10-speed automatic. Other standard features include 17-inch aluminum wheels, a leather-accented cockpit, and Ford’s Co-Pilot360 technology.
EcoBoost Premium
Building on the great features of the EcoBoost trim, the Premium level adds selectable drive modes, larger 18-inch aluminum wheels, a 9-speaker sound system, and Android Auto and Apple CarPlay integration in the infotainment center.
GT
The GT, also available as a fastback or convertible, builds on the EcoBoost trim level, but with one conspicuous upgrade. The Mustang GT is powered by a 5.0L Coyote V8 motor that makes 450 horsepower while paired with the standard 6-speed manual. Other standard features include larger breaks and a color-matched spoiler. An automatic transmission option is available as well as larger 19-inch wheels, adaptive cruise control, and more.
GT Premium
This trim level adds premium features to the Mustang GT, combining standard features from the EcoBoost Premium and GT trims. Powertrain and body options are identical to the GT, but you will find drive modes, smartphone integration, and the other comforts from the EcoBoost Premium.
Mach 1
The Mustang Mach 1 is only available as a fastback hardtop and includes a performance exhaust system, an engine tune that boosts horsepower to 470, larger 19-inch aluminum wheels, a larger 12-inch infotainment display, and much more. Top speed is also boosted for manual transmission Mach 1s. Several performance and appearance packages also allow you to further customize your Mustang.
Mach 1 Premium
The Mustang Mach 1 Premium again adds back features available on the EcoBoost Premium and GT Premium trims, so you will find more interior comforts, while powertrain and body options remain unchanged from the Mach 1 trim level.
The six trim levels of the 2023 Mustang show that whether you prioritize state-of-the-art technology and comfort or horsepower and speed, there is a Mustang for you. All trim levels are available with both a standard manual transmission and an optional automatic transmission, and five out of the six levels are available as either a hardtop or convertible.
