2019 Ford Fusion in Morrison, TNWith the significant rise in fuel prices over the past few years, fuel efficiency is becoming an increasingly important consideration for car buyers. If you are planning to get a new Ford vehicle, you can save substantially on fuel by choosing a hybrid or electric model. The American automaker has several models in its 2019 lineup that deliver excellent fuel economy without compromising on performance and ride comfort. Go green in one of these frugal Fords.

2019 Ford Focus Electric

The Focus Electric is Ford’s only electric car. For 2019, this compact hatchback gets a bump in power and range, thanks to improvements to its powertrain. While official figures are not available yet, it’s expected to generate 10 to 15 more horsepower than its 143-horsepower predecessor and a range of at least 140 miles. It also receives a larger 50 kWh battery and a new charger that significantly reduces charging time.

In addition, the new Ford Focus is lighter and longer than the previous year’s model, which contributes to quicker acceleration, better handling, and a more stable ride. Overall, the car offers good road-holding, accurate steering, and a more energetic driving experience than most of its rivals. It also comes with a well-designed cabin with decent materials, supportive seats, and a user-friendly SYNC 3 infotainment system.

2019 Ford Fusion Hybrid

If you’re looking for a fuel-efficient mid-size car, the 2019 Ford Fusion Hybrid is a great choice. This sedan is fitted with a 2.0-liter inline-four hybrid powertrain that delivers 188 horsepower and 129 pound-feet of torque. It has an excellent fuel economy rating of 43/41 mpg (city/highway).

While hybrids are typically known for their poor handling, the Fusion Hybrid rides smoothly and stably over most paved surfaces, including bumps and road imperfections. It’s also surprisingly sporty, tackling winding roads and corners with impressive agility. The car has a long list of standard features to keep you entertained and safe on the road, including an 8-inch SYNC3 infotainment system, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a nine-speaker sound system, forward-collision alert, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, lane-keeping assistance, and a rearview camera.

2019 Ford Fusion Energi

The 2019 Ford Fusion also has a plug-in hybrid in its lineup to provide even greater fuel savings. The Fusion Energi uses a 2.0-liter four-cylinder gasoline-powered engine and an electric motor to produce a combined 188 horsepower. It can travel up to 25 miles on electricity alone. Although the EPA has yet to release fuel economy estimates for this car, the similar 2018 version has a combined rating of 42 mpg.

Similar to the Fusion Hybrid, the Fusion Energi provides a comfortable and composed ride in most situations. Nonetheless, it has a number of standard features that are either unavailable or optional in the Fusion Hybrid, including voice-activated navigation, two USB ports, a 12-speaker audio system, adaptive cruise control, and rear parking assistance.
