Crowd at ConcertNothing beats an evening of live music, whether you’re indoors, outdoors, or on a patio. Luckily, plenty of music venues dot the scene in and around McMinnville, TN – places with great vibes and equally great entertainment.

1. The Caverns Near McMinnville, TN

It’s only a 40-minute drive from McMinnville to Pelham, where The Caverns is located. But the experience that awaits you is one you’ll never forget. Underground, at the base of the Cumberland Plateau, is a subterranean amphitheater naturally developed within The Caverns. It is a musical adventure unlike any other – a concert in a cave. The above-ground theater (man-made) also hosts regular concerts with a little more room to roam.

2. JJ’s Bohemia

This lively, cozy spot in Chattanooga (about one hour from McMinnville) features open-mic nights, comedy shows, and live bands. The atmosphere is friendly – regulars welcome anyone and everyone with open arms – and the sound quality is impressive. A back patio provides additional space to get a little air and enjoy the music.

3. Handlebars

Friendly customers, attentive servers, and delicious food. Live bands frequently play at Handlebars in Murfreesboro as well. You can stay inside or enjoy limited outdoor seating, where a fire pit makes for a relaxed environment. If you go, we recommend you try the steak and cheese omelet; they’re open 24 hours and serve a vast array of breakfast and dinner options.

4. The Boro Bar and Grill

Fondly described as a “dive” spot by locals, this Murfreesboro venue sponsors frequent live music. The food is excellent – some say the burgers and fries are the best in the area – and the crowd is fun and lively. You can also expect excellent service. If you imbibe, don’t forget not to drink and drive.

5. Collins River BBQ & Cafe

Considered a tourist hot spot, Collins is locally-owned and sits in prime space on McMinnville’s Main Street. They serve classic foods like smoked wings, pulled pork, and homemade desserts – plus lots more. Live music can often be found upstairs, and the servers and patrons are both friendly and fun-loving.

6. Smooth Rapids Grill

This all-in-one venue features a little bit of everything: event hosting, campgrounds, river excursions, kayak rentals, and a grill where you’ll find occasional live music. Dining is riverside, allowing you to enjoy great scenic views, and the menu offers tasty, traditional options like handcrafted burgers, sandwiches, and appetizers.

7. Jim Oliver’s Smokehouse

Since 1960, travelers crossing Monteagle Mountain have stopped at Jim Oliver’s to enjoy a home-style meal and stay in the award-winning motel or a private cabin. While the original restaurant suffered damage in a kitchen fire, the attitude at Jim Oliver’s is still the same: keep serving customers.
Now, live music plays every weekend at this venue’s outdoor facility, known as The Smoke House Patio Grill. Hot food is made to order, and guests can still expect the same inviting service as before.
Now that you know where to go for food and music, you need to plan your arrival. Imagine pulling up to one of these venues in a new car, which we can make happen. Stop by Reddick Brown Ford today and see our exciting inventory of new and pre-owned vehicles.
