Sometimes, when you get a craving for meat, only a barbecue restaurant can satisfy the need. Fortunately, there are a number of awesome places to get your fill in the Morrison area. Here are five of the best.

  1. Prater’s Bar-B-Que & Catering

Prater’s on Manchester Highway in Morrison is a rustic place with a warm welcome. The simple decor gives it a homely feel and regular customers travel from miles around to eat there. You order and pay at the counter and then you can grab a handful of roasted peanuts to keep you going until your food arrives.

The menu has a great range and the portions are large. The ribs are to die for and the beef brisket is worth traveling for. Specialties include fried catfish and the frog legs plate. You can get family packs to feed four people.

  1. Hickory Creek Barbecue

When you want to eat on the run, the Hickory Creek Barbecue food truck can be found at various locations such as farmers markets and malls. The super friendly staff will serve you with fresh smoked and barbecued meats at great value. Come prepared with a big appetite because you’ll get a lot of food.

The barbecued chicken wings are recommended as is the smoked pulled pork sandwich. You can now get Gatorade slushies at Hickory Creek too. Check out the Facebook page for their locations.

  1. Collins River BBQ & Cafe

Collins River BBQ is a 15-minute drive from Morrison on East Main Street in McMinnville. Exposed brickwork, wooden floors, the eclectic decor, and low lighting give this place a cool, laid-back vibe. As well as serving great barbecued food, they specialize in craft beers, and offer live music.

The menu features a varied selection of appetizers, salads, sandwiches and wraps, and combo plates. Their specialty sides include gouda mac and cheese, baked sweet potato, and sweet potato fries.

  1. Porky’s Pit BBQ

A similar distance in the opposite direction is Porky’s Pit on McMinnville Highway in Manchester. It’s a quaint little place with a walk-up window and drive through, and there is some seating outside. The staff are always friendly and the service is quick.

On the menu you’ll find hickory smoked beef brisket, pork, and turkey breast. Plates come with two vegetables of your choice. You can get family packs with a pound of meat, or half family packs. The pulled pork is highly recommended.

  1. High Roller Smokers BBQ

The High Roller Smokers BBQ is a food truck based in McMinnville that serves at farmers markets and other events. They pride themselves on only buying the highest quality meats and ingredients for their customers.

As well as the regular barbecue offerings, they have menu items that include herb and garlic pork loin and lemon pepper rubbed chicken. Their sides include roasted rosemary garlic potatoes, Fuji flamed roasted apples, and broccoli, rice, and cheese casserole. Check the Facebook page for locations.
