1. A Sleek, Attractive Exterior

The 2021 Explorer has a sporty, appealing look, and it’s one of the most recognizable SUVs on the road. It has a boxy profile, understated fog lights, a sculpted body, a spoiler, and a curved front bumper. The black or chrome grille has the Ford Blue Oval in the middle. There’s also a smaller lower grille, a power liftgate, all-season tires, automatic high beams, 18-inch wheels, manually folding, heated power side mirrors, roof rails, and privacy glass for the rear seats.

You can add rain-sensing windshield wipers, 20- or 21-inch wheels, chrome dual exhaust, and power-folding side mirrors. The optional self-sealing tires can help you avoid a flat, and you can choose the ST for red brake calipers, black wheels, Explorer lettering on the hood, and an ST symbol on the bottom right corner of the grille. Adaptive headlights that move as you turn the wheel for better visibility and memory settings for the side mirrors are also available.

2. Plenty of Power

This vehicle has excellent acceleration and maneuverability, and it can tow up to 5,600 pounds. You can use it to navigate crowded cities, open highways, and tough trails. Slippery, Normal, Trail, Sport, Eco, and Tow/Haul driving modes are available.

The four-cylinder, 2.3-liter engine generates 300 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque. You can also choose a hybrid 3.3-liter V-6 engine that gives 318 horsepower and 322 pound-feet of torque with an electric motor. A 3.0-liter EcoBoost V-6 engine that provides 365 horsepower and 380 pound-feet of torque is available as well. With the ST, you’ll get an even more powerful version of the 3.0-liter motor that offers 400 horsepower and 415 pound-feet of torque. All these options use a 10-speed automatic transmission.

3. A Luxurious Interior
