2023 Ford Explorer

The 2023 Explorer lineup introduces itself with a base model that lets you take advantage of LED headlights and LED taillights. You'll also notice black body-side cladding that enhances the Explorer's muscular sculpting. On the XLT, you'll find black and chrome cladding that pairs nicely with a black and chrome mesh grille and signature LED lighting. The ST-Line features a chrome-finished exhaust system, black-out-treated headlights and taillights, and LED fog lights. The Timberline offers tow hooks and steel skid plates while commanding attention with a Carbonized Gray grille. The Limited's grille is mesh with a silver finish, and this model is topped off with Satin Aluminum roof rack side rails. The ST's exterior highlights include a distinctive hood badge and chrome-finished quad exhaust tips, while the King Ranch boasts a Stone Gray grille and King Ranch decals. As the top trim, the Platinum gets a Satin Aluminum grille, Satin Aluminum cladding, and adaptive headlights.

Pop open the Explorer's hood, and you'll find a 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine that puts out 300 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque. These impressive numbers mean that you can use your Explorer to tow up to 5,300 pounds. For even more power, Ford equips upper trims, starting with the ST, with a 3.0-liter twin-turbo EcoBoost V-6 capable of producing 400 horsepower and 415 pound-feet of torque. Select models are also compatible with a 3.3-liter naturally-aspirated hybrid V-6 featuring an output of 318 horsepower and 322 pound-feet of torque.

Ford equips every 2023 Explorer with a 10-speed automatic transmission that optimizes engine output and efficiency while seamlessly shifting through gears to deliver quick, smooth acceleration. The Explorer also gets an agile rear-wheel-drive system that makes maneuvering through traffic and taking tight corners a breeze. If you like venturing off-road, consider equipping your Explorer with a four-wheel-drive system that enables it to read road conditions and precisely distribute torque to adapt to changes in landscape and weather. Four-wheel-drive models also let you take advantage of seven selectable driving modes and hill descent control.

With the 2023 Explorer, you can take advantage of luxurious yet durable seating surfaces and choose between a six- and seven-seater cabin. Both configurations give you a cargo space measuring 87.8 cubic feet when you fold the seats flat. Depending on which trim you choose, your Explorer will feature tri-zone automatic temperature control, multi-color ambient lighting, and a wireless device charger, among other amenities. You'll also enjoy a 10.1-inch infotainment touchscreen.

The 2023 Ford Explorer makes your drive a little less stressful with features like a pre-collision assist that provides braking support when it senses an imminent collision with a pedestrian or vehicle. When a vehicle enters your Explorer's blind-spot zones, you'll receive a warning from the blind-spot information system, which also detects vehicles when you put your Explorer in reverse.
