Trim Levels (Exterior)
You'll be able to choose from four different trim levels with the 2020 Explorer. These include the XLT, Limited, ST, and Platinum. There's also a hybrid version available for the Limited trim. Make a statement with one of 10 exterior color options which include a variety of two-tone choices such as Rapid Red Metallic, Magnetic, Oxford White, and Agate Black, just to name a few. Loading and unloading will be a breeze with the automatic liftgate. LED signature lighting and taillamps will leave an impression both coming and going.
Engine (Power)
There are a couple of engine options available for the Explorer to ensure you get exactly the power you need from your SUV. The XLT and Limited models come standard with a turbocharged 2.3-liter four-cylinder engine that gives you 300 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque. The Limited Hybrid is equipped with a 3.3-liter V-6 that's mated to a hybrid powertrain. This version provides a combined total of 318 horsepower.
The ST and Platinum trims have the same turbocharged 3.0-liter V-6 engine, but it puts out a little more horsepower in the ST trim at 400 and will give you an impressive 415 pound-feet of torque as well. All engines are paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission.
Performance
The available traction management system allows you to gain additional traction in a variety of terrain types, making your drive more manageable. Depending on the engine you choose, you'll be able to tow up to 5,600 pounds. This means you can take your trailer with you on all your weekend adventures. Rear-wheel drive is standard on all models and intelligent four-wheel drive is an available feature you're sure to want. It will allow you to take your new Explorer off-road and go anywhere you want.
Interior
The added space in the fully redesigned cabin means that even adults will feel comfortable sitting in the second row. With the available twin-panel moonroof, you can let in the fresh air and sunshine. It's the largest ever moonroof available to give both first- and second-row passengers great views of the outdoors. Tri-zone temperature control will ensure that everyone stays comfortable, no matter how long or short your drive. The remote start feature allows you to get your Explorer ready before you even get in. With all the great features available, there's no reason to go with any other SUV.
