2021 Ford Mustang
America's favorite muscle car is back with some exciting new developments. If you've never been behind the wheel of a Ford Mustang, the 2021 model year is an excellent choice to jump into one for the first time. Here's a quick guide to everything you should know about the 2021 Mustang.
Trim Levels
The 2021 Ford Mustang offers a wide selection of trim levels. Go for the EcoBoost, or upgrade your way through the EcoBoost Premium, GT, GT Premium, Mach 1, Mach 1 Premium, and Shelby GT500. The EcoBoost, EcoBoost Premium, and GT Premium are all available with a convertible top option. Choose from the Mustang's 10 paint color options to find your perfect ride. The Mach 1 models have unique streamlined styling cues, such as flared fenders, which gives it an even sportier appearance. From the iconic black-out grille to the chrome-tipped exhaust, the 2021 Mustang is a sight to behold.
Engine
The 2021 Mustang comes standard with a 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine that turns out 310 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque. Add the 2.3L High-Performance package to increase this strength to 332 horsepower. At the GT level, you'll find a 5.0-liter V-8 engine that offers 460 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque. The Mach 1 uses this engine to get 480 horsepower. Finally, the Shelby GT500's supercharged 5.2-liter V-8 engine pumps out 760 horsepower and 625 pound-feet of torque.
These engines are paired to either a six-speed manual transmission, 10-speed automatic transmission, or seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
Performance
The new Mustang's list of performance features is extensive. Opt for the MagneRide damping system to make your muscle car's ride even smoother. The selectable drive modes allow you to customize how your Mustang takes on the road. The dual-clutch automatic transmission features paddle shifters to give you more control over your shift points. If you're looking for a track-ready performance, the Shelby GT500 is an obvious choice, but the new Mach 1 models will still let you beat your lap times. This range of power levels allows each driver to find a Mustang that fits them and their budget.
Interior
The Mustang's interior is just as cool looking as its exterior. The two-door Mustang seats four passengers. The EcoBoost Premium will give you dual-zone climate control, a larger touch screen that's smartphone compatible, and front seats with heating and ventilation functions. For a more sport-minded cabin, choose a model with the available Recaro sport seats. Add the 12-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system to elevate your listening experience. Shoot for the GT Premium to give your cabin full leather upholstery.
Safety Features
Each 2021 Ford Mustang comes preloaded with the Ford Co-Pilot360 driver-assist technologies. These include the automatic high-beam headlamps, blind spot information system, lane-keeping assist, and a forward collision-mitigation system that can apply the Mustang's brakes if a collision is imminent. These smart features are bolstered by the Mustang's available Brembo braking system, crash-tested body, and multiple air bags to help keep you safer when the going gets tough.
